(S1) Badminton – info

Time to wobble that racket yeah!

When – 11:00 Saturday 9th December

Where – The Sandy (FNTBG)

Reward – Medals for top 3 and Trophy for the Champ!

How to play –

Use your racket to hit the shuttlecock into your opponents side of the court to score points.

If the shuttlecock hits the net or lands out then a point is awarded to your opponent.

Players must serve diagonally across the net to their opponent. There are no second serves so if your first serve goes out then your opponent wins the point.

A serve must be hit underarm and below the servers waist. No overarm serves are allowed.

Once the shuttlecock is ‘live’ then a player may move around the court as they wish. They are permitted to hit the shuttlecock from out of the playing area.

If a player touches the net with any part of their body or racket then it is deemed a fault and their opponent receives the point.

Format –

Players will be drawn into 4 groups and then will play every player in their group once in a 1st to 3 sets format, with 4 points being required to win a set. Each match won will earn 1 point in the group table.

The player with the most points in each group will progress to the semi finals. Then the 4 semi finalists will play. Winners progressing to the final and losers progressing to a 3rd place play off.

Semi- finals and the 3rd place play off will be 1st to 5 sets, and the final will be 1st to 7 sets

Scoring Points –

25 points for each game played

50 points(1pp) for each set won

100 points for winning the group
